Phoenix Art Museum and Conceptually Social have announced the upcoming opening of a new restaurant, Alden, in Spring 2025. The restaurant will be led by Operating Partner Monica X Castillo and is named after architect Alden B. Dow, who designed the original museum building. Alden will offer new American cuisine influenced by the diverse flavors of the Valley community.
Jeremy Mikolajczak, Sybil Harrington Director and CEO of Phoenix Art Museum, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “Through this collaboration with Conceptually Social, we wanted to create an experience that honors the Museum’s mid-century history while providing our community with a new dining experience featuring fresh, thoughtful design and an innovative food and beverage program.”
The restaurant's design will incorporate elements from Dow's architectural style, including intimate entries and an open-concept kitchen. It aims to blend natural light with bold shapes to encourage reflection and social interaction.
Monica X Castillo brings extensive culinary experience to Alden. She has worked in various high-end kitchens and managed several restaurant concepts. Castillo stated, “Food, art, storytelling—all of these things make up who I am and how I support my community.”
Before its official opening, Alden will host salon-style dining experiences in February and March 2025 at the Dorrance Sculpture Garden. These events are intended to preview what patrons can expect from the restaurant throughout the year.
Alden will operate five days a week offering lunch, dinner, grab-and-go pastries, and coffee service. The menu includes dishes such as Salmon Crudo and Short Ribs.
The partnership between Phoenix Art Museum and Conceptually Social aims to enhance cultural engagement through curated dining experiences linked to museum exhibitions.
