The Paradise Valley Unified School District Governing Board has reached a decision in its search for a new superintendent, choosing to enter contract negotiations with Dr. Todd Cummings. This decision was made unanimously by the board.

"The Governing Board is excited to enter into the next phase of the process with Dr. Todd Cummings," stated Anne Greenberg, PVSchools Governing Board President. "Throughout the selection process, Dr. Cummings demonstrated a deep passion for students and teachers and the mission of public education. His professional experience and accomplishments will provide PVUSD the opportunity to build upon our rich traditions and successes, expand our parent and community partnerships, and continue supporting students on their many journeys of excellence."

Dr. Cummings brings over 25 years of experience in education to this role. He has held positions in strategy, compensation, evaluation, human resources, and most recently served as superintendent for South Bend Community School District until his retirement in February 2025. Starting his career as a middle school teacher, he spent 13 years in district leadership roles.

"I have followed the successes of PV for many years and appreciate the values of student focus and the culture of collaboration," said Dr. Todd Cummings about his upcoming role at Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD). "I look forward to joining the Paradise Valley team and am honored to have the opportunity to build upon the district’s legacy of leadership."

Dr. Cummings' career highlights include raising student literacy achievement and graduation rates to record levels over five decades; reducing teacher turnover while enhancing quality through professional development opportunities; improving school safety by establishing clear policies; promoting positive behavior interventions; fostering respect and responsibility; increasing community engagement via transparent systems that invite stakeholder input.

If contract negotiations proceed smoothly as expected following these developments involving both parties' interests being aligned appropriately concerning terms discussed mutually between them earlier without issues arising unexpectedly during proceedings before finalizing agreement reached successfully overall eventually concluded positively resulting outcome achieved satisfactorily agreed upon completion confirmed officially signed formally endorsed thereby allowing commencement scheduled date set July 1st 2025 onwards thereafter commencing accordingly subsequently then beginning
