At the conclusion of the season, linebacker Vi Jones expressed a desire for his team, the Cardinals, to retain both him and his brother Zay. "Need those Jones boys," he remarked. This comment was made as Zay was set to enter free agency.

However, Zay Jones did not reach the open market. The Cardinals secured his services with a one-year contract extension valued at $4.4 million. Last season, Zay's contributions were limited; he recorded eight receptions for 84 yards over 11 games after missing the first five due to an NFL suspension. As he enters his eighth season, he remains a veteran presence among wide receivers and offers depth in case of injuries.

The Cardinals are expected to look for additional speed at wide receiver despite having second-year player Xavier Weaver on their roster. Greg Dortch is poised to become a free agent, while Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson currently lead the receiving corps. Earlier this season, the team also signed Quez Watkins from the Eagles.

Zay Jones is now one of six players returning to the Cardinals before free agency begins. He joins long snapper Aaron Brewer, safety Joey Blount, outside linebacker Baron Browning, and offensive linemen Evan Brown and Kelvin Beachum in re-signing with the team.
