The Phoenix Mercury has announced a new partnership with Flipper’s, an active lifestyle apparel company, for the 2025 season. Flipper’s will become the jersey badge partner for the team, marking the first time an apparel brand has held this position in the WNBA.
Flipper’s was founded by Liberty Ross and is partnered with global superstar Usher. The company plans to launch its apparel line later this year. The brand draws inspiration from Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace in Hollywood, established by Ross' father in 1979. It aims to combine fashion, music, sport, and art through its products and experiences.
Josh Bartelstein, CEO of Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns, stated: “The Mercury and Flipper’s share in the belief that sports can bring people together in many ways.” He emphasized that both brands are committed to business growth and community impact.
Liberty Ross expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership: “Women in sports has been one of my biggest sources of inspiration for Flipper’s – from their undeniable athleticism and talent to their incredible sense of style and individuality."
Throughout the season, Flipper's logo will appear on the left shoulder of Mercury jerseys. The brand will also be featured on arena screens, during games with roller skating performances by Flipper's sQUAD, and through exclusive social media content. A merchandise collaboration will be available at the Mercury Team Shop starting March 17.
Additionally, Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation will collaborate with Usher's New Look organization to support under-resourced youth in Phoenix through programs with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.
This initiative represents the second year of Mercury's rotating badge partnership strategy which features a different brand each season. The goal is to leverage their platform for business growth while supporting community initiatives.
The 2025 WNBA regular season begins on May 17 when Phoenix Mercury faces Seattle Storm at home. Tickets are available at phoenixmercury.com/tix.
Flipper’s continues to build on its legacy as a cultural movement that merges fashion, music, sport, and art under its mission "Less Scroll, More Roll." Meanwhile, Usher's New Look supports youth across America through skill-based programming aimed at unlocking potential and fostering economic mobility.
