Patrick Peterson may soon announce his retirement from the NFL as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. A series of social media posts have hinted at this potential development, including Instagram videos from Peterson with captions suggesting a return to the Cardinals for a special occasion. "It was nothing like taking flight with the Bird Gang on Sundays. See you next week @azcardinals," one post read.

NFL insider Adam Schefter also tweeted that Peterson is scheduled to attend a press conference on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m., where he will reportedly retire as a Cardinal. The team has yet to confirm this news beyond scheduling the press conference. Peterson has remained silent on the matter since his posts.

Peterson played his last games with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023, completing all 17 matchups of the season. A return to active play with the Cardinals was deemed unlikely due to factors such as the team's roster strategy led by Monti Osesenfort, Peterson's age, and the time he has spent away from professional competition.

If retirement is indeed the announcement, Peterson will conclude a 13-year NFL career, ten of which were spent with the Cardinals. During his tenure, he earned eight Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro honors. The Cardinals initially drafted him as the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Peterson transitioned to the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent after the 2020 season and later joined the Steelers.

Alongside his recent social media activity, Peterson appeared in a video congratulating Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill on his induction into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.
