The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly set to sign Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Josh Sweat to a four-year contract, according to multiple reports. The news comes amid ongoing free agency activities, with Sweat being linked to the Cardinals for several weeks.

Josh Sweat had an impressive performance in the Super Bowl, recording 2.5 sacks against Patrick Mahomes during Philadelphia's victory over Kansas City. Over his seven-year career, including two seasons under current Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon as defensive coordinator, Sweat has accumulated 43 sacks. Last season, he recorded eight sacks in 16 games and reached a career-high of 11 sacks in 2022.

Although the deal cannot be officially signed or announced until Wednesday afternoon at the earliest, it represents a significant acquisition for the Cardinals. Last year, Zaven Collins led the team with five sacks.

In addition to retaining Baron Browning, the Cardinals now boast a strong outside linebacker lineup that includes Sweat, Collins, Browning, and BJ Ojulari, who is recovering from an ACL injury.

The Cardinals were also reportedly pursuing Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams. Initial reports on Monday suggested Williams had agreed to terms with the Panthers but later continued negotiations with both the Cardinals and Vikings before ultimately signing with New England for a reported $26 million annually, making him the highest-paid player in Patriots history.

Meanwhile, defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris is expected to join the Giants after visiting with the Cardinals following his release from the Seahawks.

Free agency continues as teams look to strengthen their rosters ahead of the upcoming season.
