With the start of free agency approaching, the Cardinals have re-signed two of their own pending free agents to bolster their special teams unit. Long snapper Aaron Brewer has agreed to a one-year contract, while safety Joey Blount has signed a two-year deal. These agreements were finalized on Friday, ahead of the period when players can begin negotiating with other teams.
Brewer's return ensures his position on the roster as the new league year commences. He played in all 17 games last season without a single errant snap. Entering his 14th NFL season and 10th with Arizona, Brewer remains a reliable presence for the team.
Blount is entering his third season with the Cardinals and participated in 15 games last year. While he only saw action for 20 defensive snaps, he contributed significantly on special teams with a career-high 268 snaps, despite missing the final two games due to a rib injury.
Blount was among five restricted free agents for the Cardinals, alongside wide receiver Greg Dortch and linebacker Jesse Luketa. These players will become unrestricted unless they receive an offer before Wednesday.
The Cardinals currently have 20 pending unrestricted free agents.
Additionally, reports indicate that veteran defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris visited the team. Released by the Seahawks earlier this week, Robertson-Harris played in 17 games last season between Jacksonville and Seattle, recording two sacks.
