Grand Canyon University's track and field program has received significant recognition in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) end-of-season awards. Senior sprinter Justin Raines and head coach Tom Flood were both honored for their contributions to the team's success.
Justin Raines, a transfer from Tarleton State, has been recognized for his performance by winning two WAC individual championships in the 60-meter and 200-meter events. These victories contributed to Grand Canyon's overall title win in the conference. Raines is set to compete as a qualifier in the 200-meter event at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for next weekend in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Tom Flood, head coach of Grand Canyon's track and field team, received his 25th WAC Coach of the Year award. This accolade marks his eighth recognition specifically for men's indoor track. Under Flood's leadership, Grand Canyon University has secured its eighth men's indoor championship out of the last nine opportunities.
As they celebrate these achievements, Grand Canyon's track and field program is preparing for the upcoming outdoor season starting this Saturday.
