In a recent decision, Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed four bills sponsored by Republican State Representative Lisa Fink. These bills aimed to enhance parental rights, uphold state sovereignty, and maintain biological definitions in Arizona.

The proposed legislation covered various public policy areas with the intention of prioritizing Arizona families, students, and voters. HB2058 sought to inform adult students at public colleges about their right to opt out of vaccine requirements based on medical or personal beliefs. HB2060 aimed to affirm Arizona's authority to set voting qualifications for federal elections within the state. HB2062, known as the Arizona Sex-based Terms Act, intended to clarify legal definitions related to sex-based terms and protect single-sex spaces. Lastly, HB2063 would have required schools to inform parents about immunization exemption rights for their children.

Representative Fink expressed disappointment over the vetoes, stating that "these bills reflect what most Arizonans believe: parents should be informed, adults should have medical freedom, voters should prove citizenship, and the law should acknowledge biological reality." She criticized Governor Hobbs for siding with "bureaucrats and far-left special interests" instead of supporting parents and voters.

Fink further commented on the governor's actions: "Governor Hobbs doesn’t trust parents, she doesn’t trust voters, and she clearly doesn’t trust biology." She accused Hobbs of favoring government overreach over basic rights and choosing ideology over integrity.

Lisa Fink represents Legislative District 27 in the Arizona House of Representatives. Her district includes parts of Glendale, Peoria, and Phoenix.
