Cigna Healthcare has awarded the University of Phoenix a bronze level Healthy Workforce Designation for 2024. This recognition is attributed to the university's commitment to enhancing employee health through its MyLife Live Well program. The program offers wellness opportunities such as mental health resources, personalized physical therapy, diabetes support and prevention, hypertension support, and weight management.
Cheryl Naumann, Chief Human Resources Officer at the University of Phoenix, expressed gratitude for the recognition: “Employee well-being is a critical aspect of ensuring our workforce feels engaged, supported and valued and we are honored to have our healthy work culture recognized with the Cigna Healthy Workforce Designation.” She added that their efforts have led to improved health outcomes and active engagement from employees.
The MyLife Live Well program continues to expand in its sixth year. A recent addition includes connecting employees with coaches and mentors for guidance on personal growth and mental fitness.
Cigna's designation evaluates organizations based on leadership, culture, program execution, policies, accommodations, among other factors. Recognized organizations set standards for organizational health. Cigna acknowledged the University of Phoenix's progress towards fostering a healthy work culture.
Kari Knight Stevens from The Cigna Group emphasized the importance of vitality in workplaces: “Higher vitality is linked to a more motivated, connected, and productive workforce.” She highlighted that fostering vitality can drive business growth.
Research by Evernorth Vitality Index indicates higher vitality correlates with better mental and physical health along with job satisfaction. However, less than one in five U.S. adults report high levels of vitality. Comprehensive workplace well-being programs can play a crucial role in improving this metric.
