The Arizona Cardinals are exercising caution with rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., who is currently undergoing concussion protocol. This development follows an incident during Sunday's game against Green Bay, where Harrison hit his head after a play.
Head Coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed the situation on Monday. Previously, tight end Trey McBride also went through concussion protocol and missed a subsequent game. However, the Cardinals have some additional preparation time before their next match against the Chargers, scheduled for "Monday Night Football" at State Farm Stadium.
In related roster news, Zay Jones has been added to the 53-man roster following the conclusion of his suspension. Despite this update, Jones was listed on last week's injury report due to a hamstring concern.
Harrison's injury occurred when he was targeted in the second quarter of Sunday's game. The pass fell incomplete as Harrison's head collided with a Packers defender's thigh upon hitting the ground. Earlier in the game, a miscommunication between him and quarterback Kyler Murray resulted in another unsuccessful target. Murray accepted responsibility for that error.
This makes Harrison the second prominent rookie receiver from this year's draft class to face early career challenges with concussions; Malik Nabers of the Giants is also dealing with similar issues and has missed two games so far this season.
Despite these setbacks, Harrison has managed to record 17 receptions for 279 yards and four touchdowns this season.
