GLENDALE, Ariz. — Banner Thunderbird Medical Center hosted a memorable reunion for the families and former patients of its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The event brought together over 40 families of children who once received specialized neonatal care at the facility.

This gathering, held on April 5, included emotional reunions with the nurses, doctors, and support staff who were significant in the early stages of these children's lives. In 2024, the medical center welcomed more than 4,800 newborns, with around 500 needing advanced NICU care. The expertise of the medical team has contributed to the thriving health of many of these children.

"This event is always a deeply emotional and inspiring reminder of the work we do," said Zoe Coleman, director of women and infant services at Banner Thunderbird. "Watching these children run, laugh and grow into such strong little individuals is a testament to the strength of their families and the dedication of our entire team."

The reunion expressed gratitude from the families to the healthcare professionals for providing optimal care to their children from the start.

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, based in Glendale, specializes in various medical services, including heart care, surgical services, and pediatrics. It also features the West Valley’s only pediatric intensive care unit and a Level I Trauma Center. The medical center is part of Banner Health, a nonprofit health system operating 33 hospitals across six states.
