Jonah Williams returned to the offensive line on Sunday, but the overall performance did not match the team's previous showing in Week 1 against Buffalo before his injury.
"We just have to do a good job in pass-pro," coach Jonathan Gannon commented following the loss to Seattle. "It's not just the offense, the offensive line. I think it's the route detail of when guys have to get open, things of that nature. That's all 11 (players). So we'll get back at it. We'll rebound from it."
Williams participated in all 58 offensive snaps with his fellow linemen. Despite some criticism of Pro Football Focus grades, Williams received a better-than-average score for his first game back. Gannon emphasized the need for a more consistent running game to avoid "playing left-handed," which involves effective blocking and creating openings.
"Nothing that we weren't prepared for, but I think it just came down to execution for us," Williams remarked.
The team anticipates a stronger performance in their upcoming game against Minnesota due to their solid track record this season.
Tight end Trey McBride was prominent on offense in Seattle, playing nearly every snap except two. Tip Reiman and Elijah Higgins saw reduced playtime with 20 and 18 snaps respectively.
Marvin Harrison Jr. was active for 55 snaps, while Michael Wilson participated in 48, highlighted by an impressive catch. Zay Jones had 22 snaps without being targeted; Greg Dortch played 12 snaps and Zach Pascal had one.
In the running back position, James Conner led with 40 snaps, followed by Trey Benson and Emari Demercado with nine each.
Defensively, safety Budda Baker and linebacker Kyzir White were consistent presences on all plays (64), with rookie safety Rabbit Taylor-Demerson close behind at 62 snaps. The secondary also included Sean Murphy-Bunting (56), Garrett Williams (47), Starling Thomas V (42), Max Melton (28), Joey Blount (5), and Kei'Trel Clark (2).
Inside linebacker duties were shared by Mack Wilson Sr. (55), Owen Pappoe (3), and Krys Barnes (3). On the outside, Zaven Collins delivered a standout performance over his 35 snaps alongside Baron Browning's 34 snaps. Jesse Luketa played 22 snaps; Victor Dimukeje had 20; Xavier Thomas contributed with fifteen.
The defensive line featured L.J. Collier leading with 43 snaps followed by Dante Stills (35), Roy Lopez (31), Naquan Jones (23), and Khyiris Tonga with fifteen plays recorded.
