Kyler Murray, the Arizona Cardinals quarterback, is reflecting on his performance after a recent game where he rushed only once. Reviewing game footage and discussing with coaches, Murray acknowledges the importance of utilizing his running ability more effectively.

"I feel when I have 3 yards and one rush, yeah I feel a little weird about it," Murray stated. "That's sometimes how the game plays."

The lone rush occurred during a scramble in the game's first drive. This marks only the third time in Murray's NFL career that he has run just once in a game. One previous instance resulted in an ACL injury against the Patriots.

Murray's running skills have been frequently discussed throughout his six seasons. The Cardinals have yet to win any of the 15 games where Murray attempted fewer than five rushes, although there was one tie.

"When I'm running, it just happens," said Murray, noting that designed runs or read option plays are not commonly called for him. "It's not something I can go out there and force, which I could. When you see me take off it's the natural flow of the game. But I believe it does open things up."

This season, Murray has scrambled 11 times for 123 yards, with a +36 yards over expected according to Next Gen Stats—indicating he gained 36 more yards than anticipated from those scrambles. He has achieved four runs of at least 10 yards.

In addition to scrambling, he has participated in five designed runs this season, totaling 164 yards across these attempts.

"I enjoy running the ball; it's part of what I am able to do," said Murray. "But I'm playing the position and if it happens, it happens."
