Eric Miller, President | Tempe Elementary School District
The Tempe Elementary School District is set to welcome students for the 2024-2025 school year, beginning on Wednesday, July 24.
The district has scheduled a "Meet Your Teacher" event on Monday, July 22. For elementary schools, Getz School, Cecil Shamely School, and Ward Traditional Academy, parents and students can attend between 5 - 7 p.m. Middle schools will host their event from 3 - 6 p.m.
School hours are available on the district's website at www.tempeschools.org/schoolhours.
For students using bus transportation, information and schedules will be provided during the "Meet Your Teacher" event. Special education program transportation details will be mailed directly to homes. Questions can be directed to bus@tempeschools.org or by calling 480-642-1540.
Before- and after-school care options are available at elementary schools or nearby neighborhoods. Additional details are accessible at www.tempeschools.org/parents/before-and-afterschool-care.
Parents may receive attendance updates via mailed letters or texts this year. To ensure receipt of these updates, contact information should be kept current with the school office.
The district encourages students to adhere to dress codes where applicable. Uniform guidelines for specific schools can be found at www.tempeschools.org/dresscode.
While the district provides essential supplies for all students, some teachers may have optional supply lists. Further information will be shared on school websites, via email, or during the "Meet Your Teacher" event.
Through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, free breakfast and lunch will be provided to all elementary, K-8, and middle school students. No household applications for free and reduced-priced meals are required; however, parents/guardians must complete an income eligibility form for grant funding purposes.
In emergencies, important messages will be sent via text, call, and/or email through a district message service. Parents are advised to keep their contact information up-to-date with their child's school office.
Family resources including food support and behavioral health services are listed on the district’s resources web page. Back-to-school information is also available at www.tempeschools.org/backtoschool.
