Ruben Gallego, a U.S. Congressman representing Arizona's 3rd district since 2015, has been vocal on social media regarding recent policy decisions and their impacts. Gallego replaced Ed Pastor in Congress and previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2012 to 2014. Born in Chicago in 1979, he now resides in Phoenix and holds a BA from Harvard University.
On January 28, 2025, Gallego expressed concerns about the consequences of what he termed "Trump’s Chaos Cuts." He highlighted the negative impacts on several areas including cancer research, housing for homeless veterans, student loans, and tribal broadband. Gallego stated: "The more we learn about the consequences of Trump’s Chaos Cuts the worse it gets." He emphasized that these issues are unacceptable and pledged continued opposition.
The following day, January 29, 2025, Gallego criticized what he described as an abuse of power by the President concerning funding cuts. He asserted: "This is an abuse of power. Presidents can’t just cut funding for things they don’t like." According to him, such actions lead to chaos and confusion not endorsed by American voters.
Later that same day, Gallego addressed another pressing issue involving vaccine funding held by Health and Human Services (HHS). He noted: "FACT: HHS is sitting on millions in vaccine funding." Urging action against the bird flu crisis affecting farmers and food prices, he questioned Robert Kennedy Jr.'s potential use of these funds to alleviate rising costs due to avian flu.
