U.S. Congressional candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ-8) said that poll results showing only 18% of Arizonans believe the American Dream is "still attainable" are "shocking, but in Joe Biden's America, they are hardly surprising."

"What do you expect when the government causes inflation by printing trillions of dollars with reckless abandon, and opens our borders up and welcomes the entire Third World to come here?" Masters told PHX Reporter. "The American Dream can be possible once again, and right here in Arizona, but only if we get Biden out of office and get our priorities straight.

"We need to secure our border, deport millions of illegal aliens, and implement America First, pro-family economic policies to get a healthy economy back," said Masters. "And that is what I will help President Trump do when I am in Congress."

The poll results are from a survey conducted for the League of American Workers (LAW) by NorthStar Opinion Research, reported Grand Canyon Times, and also showed that 78% of Arizonans believe that the American Dream is "out of reach."

“That level of despondency, in any region of America, should give great pause and compel introspection about what afflicts our society -- and what remedies can work as solutions,” said Steve Cortes, founder of LAW, told the Grand Canyon Times about the poll. “But this kind of pervasive hopelessness in Arizona stings particularly bitterly.”

77% of Arizona voters said American is on the “wrong track” and 60% disapprove of President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy, said the poll, which also found that only 13% of independent Arizona voters "strongly approve" of Biden's performance on the economy, with 48% "strongly disapproving."

Masters is one of four candidates currently running in the Republican primary to represent the 8th Congressional District. The district is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko (R), who announced last year that she will be retiring at the end of the current term.

Masters announced last week that his campaign has raised $1.3 million to date.

He ran for U.S. Senate in 2022, losing to incumbent U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly (D) by a vote of 51.4% to 46.5%. Kelly reportedly outspent Masters by $66 million in that race.

After growing up and attending high school in Tucson, Masters graduated from Stanford University and received his J.D. from Stanford Law School. He then co-founded legal research startup Judicata.

He is co-author of the bestselling business book, “Zero to One: Notes on a Startup” with Peter Thiel, and served as president of the Thiel Foundation. Masters married his wife, Catherine, in 2012 and they have three sons.
