Banner McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado, has installed the MAGNETOM Sola 1.5T MRI machine, an advanced imaging system from Siemens Healthineers. Operational since March 14, this installation represents a technological leap in medical imaging within the region.
The medical center, performing around 60 MRI scans weekly, is the only facility in northern Colorado under Banner Health with this machine type. The new system supports diverse clinical applications, including imaging of the brain, joints, and oncology assessments.
According to Justin Armstrong, Banner Health's medical imaging director, the machine provides "better image quality and faster scan times," reducing scan duration by 40% to 50%. "Most scans will only take 15 to 20 minutes," he noted. The improved imaging aids radiologists in providing accurate diagnoses.
The MRI incorporates BioMatrix technology for customized imaging based on patient anatomy, offering quiet scans and a spacious design to alleviate patient discomfort. Armstrong highlighted, “Banner does a really good job of keeping up with the latest imaging equipment,” emphasizing the importance of upgraded capabilities for community service.
The machine's acquisition, costing approximately $3.4 million, was entirely funded by the hospital. For further information on Banner Health's imaging services, visit their website.
