University of Phoenix leaders contribute to major AACRAO annual meeting in Seattle

Key leaders from the University of Phoenix played a significant role in the 110th American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) Annual Meeting. The event took place from March 30 to April 2, 2025, in Seattle, Washington. It featured discussions and presentations on subjects such as transfer credit, credit for prior learning, skills badging, and quality management.

Marc Booker, Ph.D., Vice Provost of Strategy at the University of Phoenix, commented, "University of Phoenix is dedicated to fostering student success at every stage of the academic journey, especially as it relates to our registrar and admissions related services." He further stated, "Engaging with the AACRAO community to share best practices on academic transfer credit, digital credentials, credit for prior learning, and skills-based learning helps to advance the principles of learning mobility and support AACRAO’s signature initiative in this space."

AACRAO, a non-profit association, aims to make higher education more responsive to learners. It represents over 18,000 higher education professionals from approximately 2,300 institutions in more than 40 countries, collectively serving over 16.5 million learners. The association focuses on advocacy, research, and policy-based guidance to assist learners at different stages of their education.

During the meeting, various sessions were led by University of Phoenix leaders. Marc Booker, Ph.D., along with Deslie Ghiorzi, led a session titled "Transfer Articulation 101," providing an overview on transfer and articulation requirements. Topics included guidelines for transfer, building partnerships, and handling credit for prior learning.

Devin Andrews, vice president of the Office of Admissions & Evaluation at the University of Phoenix, co-led discussions on enhancing student success through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) and Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), and navigating non-traditional credit opportunities with alternative credit providers.

Doris Savon, MBA, Vice Provost of Colleges, Curriculum and Assessment at the University of Phoenix, participated in a panel discussion on digital credentials, exploring their diverse use cases across learning institutions.

Monterey Sims, Director of Admissions and Evaluation at the University of Phoenix, took part in a roundtable on electronic transcripts and co-presented on connecting institutions through interoperability solutions.

Joe Tate, a senior director in the Registrar’s Office, led discussions on employee skills badging and risk-based quality management in registrar and admission offices.

The University of Phoenix leaders, including Andrews, Booker, Savon, Sims, and Tate, are recognized for their expertise in higher education. In 2025, they are set to participate in other national conferences such as the ASU + GSV Summit, 1EdTech Learning Impact Conference, SXSW EDU Conference, and PESC Data Summit, reinforcing the university's commitment to innovation in education.
