A Tucson resident, Linda Hill, has experienced a significant improvement in her life following care at Banner Boswell Medical Center. Diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) by Dr. Brett Broussard, Hill regained her physical abilities after undergoing surgical treatment.

Hill's symptoms began appearing in early 2021, with pain in her shoulder and wrists and curling fingers. The discomfort escalated, forcing her to leave her job and apply for disability. Hill saw 17 doctors before finding Dr. Broussard, who specializes in TOS.

Dr. Broussard explained, "TOS is a group of conditions that places pressure on blood vessels or nerves in the area between the neck and shoulder," adding that physical therapy and non-surgical treatments are often the first steps before surgery.

For Hill, TOS affected both sides of her body. Her treatment involved lengthy travels to Sun City for surgery. "For once, my symptoms were not belittled," Hill stated, expressing her relief at finally receiving a proper diagnosis.

Dr. Broussard noted the complexity of diagnosing TOS, often requiring a comprehensive medical history and specialized imaging. He remarked, "Patients who might be suffering from TOS can be seen by many different doctors," highlighting the difficulty in identifying the condition and urging awareness of TOS as well as available treatments at Banner Boswell.

Banner Boswell Medical Center is a part of Banner Health and provides a variety of specialized care services. The center is supported by Sun Health Foundation, which promotes charitable contributions for health care advancement. Further details are available online.
