Phoenix Art Museum is set to host its annual gala, The pARTy in the Garden, on April 11, with proceeds supporting exhibitions and educational programs. Attendees will have exclusive access to preview "The World of Anna Sui," a special-engagement fashion exhibition opening to the public on April 12. The event includes a cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, and dancing. Later that evening, The afterpARTy will commence as an exclusive late-night event featuring music and cocktails.
The museum will be closed to the public on April 11 for these events. On Wednesdays from 3-8 pm, the museum offers Pay-What-You-Wish admission thanks to support from SRP and City of Phoenix. Students from Maricopa County Community Colleges receive free general admission with valid ID.
April also features several events at the museum including the Eric Fischl Lecture Series on April 2 with contemporary painter Eric Fischl discussing his work. First Friday on April 4 offers voluntary-donation general admission along with music by DJ J-M Lee and other activities.
"The World of Anna Sui" exhibition is organized by the Fashion and Textile Museum in London and curated by Dennis Nothdruft. It showcases ensembles from Sui's archive, highlighting her unique style influenced by various cultural elements.
In addition to fashion exhibits, photography enthusiasts can visit "Widening the Lens: Photography, Ecology, and the Contemporary Landscape," which runs through June 15. This exhibition challenges traditional photography perceptions by exploring ecological themes.
Another ongoing exhibit is "Eamon Ore-Giron: Tomorrow’s Monsoon," showcasing works that draw inspiration from Arizona's desert landscape.
The museum provides various programs for children such as Create Playdate every Saturday in April and Storytime on April 3. Other events include film screenings as part of "In Dreams: The Films of David Lynch" series throughout April.
Phoenix Art Museum has been engaging visitors since its founding in 1959 through diverse exhibitions and collections across multiple art disciplines. More information can be found at phxart.org or by calling their contact number.
