Banner – University Medicine's University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) has been re-accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). This program is managed by the American College of Surgeons. The UACC remains the only accredited breast cancer center in Tucson and one of three in Arizona.

The NAPBC grants accreditation to centers that show excellence in leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, and patient care. During its evaluation, UACC was commended for its commitment to clinical trial recruitment, strong leadership, institutional support, and knowledge of NAPBC standards.

Since 2018, UACC has held this accreditation. The NAPBC requires a comprehensive review every three years to maintain it. Patients at these accredited centers benefit from advanced breast cancer services, a multidisciplinary treatment approach, access to clinical trials, and supportive care.

As part of Banner – University Medicine, UACC's team offers personalized care from diagnosis through survivorship. The center has seen an increase in patients from Tucson and southern Arizona areas like Yuma and Sierra Vista.

“At the UACC breast center we are committed to delivering high quality, patient-centered, individualized breast cancer care to southern Arizona,” said surgical oncologist Nova M. Foster, MD, FACS. “Our team of specialists use a multidisciplinary approach for treatment planning, and we offer the most up-to-date treatments and clinical trials.”

In addition to clinical work, UACC engages with local communities through partnerships and educational events. Its research efforts are integrated with the University of Arizona Health Sciences.
