Phoenix Mercury signs forward Kitija Laksa ahead of WNBA season

The Phoenix Mercury has announced the signing of forward Kitija 'Kit' Laksa. Currently playing for Beretta Famila Schio in Italy, Laksa is averaging 15.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in EuroLeague play. She leads the league in three-pointers made with a total of 30 and is shooting 41.7% from beyond the arc through 12 games.

Laksa hails from Latvia and attended the University of South Florida from 2015 to 2019. During her college career, she ranked sixth on the Bulls’ all-time scoring list with 1,764 points, third in career points per game at 17.8, first in free throw percentage at 89.6%, and second in three-point percentage at 39.1%. Since 2013, she has been a member of the Latvian National Team and played a key role in leading Turkish club Fenerbahçe to EuroLeague and Turkish Cup titles in 2024.

The Phoenix Mercury will begin their 2025 WNBA regular season at home on Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m., facing off against the Seattle Storm during the Fry’s Food Stores Home Opener. Tickets for this event are available on their website.
