Trey McBride, a tight end for the Arizona Cardinals, was informed by team owner Michael Bidwill that he had been selected to participate in the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl. "It was great to hear it from him," McBride stated. "I'm very proud to represent this organization."
Joining McBride in Orlando is safety Budda Baker, marking his seventh appearance at the Pro Bowl. The event will feature a skills showdown and culminate with a flag football game between the NFC and AFC on Sunday.
McBride's selection is notable as he becomes the first Cardinals tight end since Jackie Smith in 1970 to make it to the Pro Bowl. This follows an impressive season where McBride set a franchise record with 111 receptions and achieved 1,146 receiving yards, ranking second in team history for his position. "You want to make it to the pros and then you want to be the best," McBride commented. "This was a goal coming into this season and something I've been striving for since I've gotten to the NFL."
Budda Baker is among only three former Cardinals with more than seven Pro Bowl selections; Larry Fitzgerald leads with 11, followed by Patrick Peterson and Larry Wilson with eight each. Last year, Baker contributed to an NFC victory in the flag game.
Baker appreciates the different events of today's Pro Bowl format compared to its previous resemblance to regular games. "It's cool for people that don't really see our faces because we're in helmets," he said.
At age 29, Baker continues performing at a high level, having set a career-high of 164 tackles this season. His ongoing success may lead him past Peterson and Wilson's Pro Bowl records under his current contract extension.
For now, Baker is focused on enjoying this weekend's activities alongside McBride. "He'll have a great time... Just have a good time because that's what it's all about," Baker noted.
