The Arizona Cardinals have announced that veteran kicker Matt Prater has been designated to return from Injured Reserve, allowing him to participate in practice. Prater, who underwent knee surgery after Week 5, could potentially rejoin the roster during the regular season.
In addition to Prater's potential return, the Cardinals have promoted punter Michael Palardy to the 53-man roster. Palardy steps in for Blake Gillikin, whose season ended due to a foot injury. In his debut game against the Patriots last week, Palardy averaged 48.5 yards per punt.
The team also made adjustments to their practice squad by bringing back running back Tony Jones Jr., following Emari Demercado's placement on Injured Reserve. Additionally, linebacker Deshawn Banks was signed as Jesse Luketa recovers from a thigh injury sustained against the Patriots. Luketa shared images of himself wearing a large leg brace on social media.
Before his injury, Prater successfully completed all six field goal attempts and ten extra points in the first four games of the season. His replacement, Chad Ryland, has performed consistently with an 18-for-18 record on extra points and 22-of-26 on field goals, including crucial game-winning kicks against teams like the 49ers, Dolphins, and Chargers.
