Budda Baker, a Pro Bowl safety for the Arizona Cardinals, doesn't visit his hometown of Seattle frequently anymore. Most of his family has relocated to Arizona or other areas, and Baker himself prefers warmer climates. "I like the heat," he said regarding his offseason locations.

Despite being away from Seattle, the city remains significant for Baker as he prepares to play against the Seahawks this Sunday. He reminisces about his undefeated high school football career in Seattle that led to three state championships.

Baker maintains a personal tradition whenever the Cardinals travel to Seattle. Upon arrival at their hotel, he visits the gravesite of his older brother, Robert, who was tragically killed during Budda's second season with the Cardinals in 2018. "I'll have a couple of words and hang out for a second," Baker shared about these visits.

He fondly remembers Robert as "the laughter of the family" and believes his brother would be proud of him today. Last year's game in Seattle marked Budda's return from an injury reserve following a hamstring tear. The visit holds special meaning not only due to family ties but also because of friendships with individuals like trainer Tracy Ford. Ford has been connected with Baker since seventh grade and runs a gym where Baker trained alongside Seahawks stars such as Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright during high school.

Baker values lessons learned from training with NFL veterans in Seattle, one being not to "cheat the grind." This ethos has contributed to Baker's successful ongoing season.
