Jets linebacker Quincy Williams delivered a powerful hit on Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, sending his helmet flying during Sunday's game. Despite the impact, Murray retained possession of the ball. Reflecting on the play, Murray admitted, "I don't know. I was thinking the same thing."
Murray's performance remained unaffected by the hit as he led the Cardinals to a decisive 31-6 victory over the Jets at State Farm Stadium. The Cardinals improved their record to 6-4 and secured first place in the NFC West heading into their bye week.
The Cardinals' offensive drive continued smoothly after Murray handed off to James Conner for a 7-yard gain and then connected with Trey McBride for 13 yards before throwing a touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison Jr.
Coach Jonathan Gannon praised Murray's performance, stating, "The quarterback was the best player on the planet today." Tight end Trey McBride also contributed significantly with crucial plays, while running back James Conner gained substantial yardage through receptions.
Defensively, the Cardinals limited Aaron Rodgers and the Jets' offense effectively, preventing them from scoring a touchdown for a third consecutive home game.
Reflecting on his team's performance, defensive lineman Naquan Jones said, "We want to be resilient. We want to make teams earn every inch."
Despite downplaying his own role in the victory, Murray acknowledged his satisfaction with how events unfolded: "I'm kind of glad it happened," he remarked about being hit.
The game also saw standout performances from other players like rookie running back Trey Benson and safety Budda Baker. However, rookie guard Isaiah Adams left early due to an injury.
As they look forward to continuing their successful season post-bye week, Coach Gannon expressed confidence in defensive lineman Darius Robinson's return this season.
