The Arizona Cardinals have placed linebacker Dennis Gardeck on Injured Reserve as of Friday, freeing up a roster spot for future needs. This move comes ahead of the team's decision on whether to activate Darius Robinson from IR. Robinson's practice window is set to close next Wednesday, at which point the team must decide to either add him to the active roster or keep him on IR for the rest of the season.

Robinson has not yet fully participated in practice since his activation window began over two weeks ago. His progress has been hampered by ongoing calf issues and personal challenges following his mother's death.

With Gardeck sidelined, the Cardinals have internal options to fill his role on defense. Victor Dimukeje and Xavier Thomas have recently been inactive but are potential candidates. Additionally, inside linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. might see increased use on the edge.

Gardeck initially joined the starting lineup due to an injury suffered by projected starter BJ Ojulari, who experienced a season-ending ACL tear during training camp. In addition to his defensive contributions, Gardeck was also an important part of special teams and concludes his season with three sacks.
