Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is home to a dedicated music industry studies professor, John Keenan, who is influencing the future of popular music production. With over 30 years in the music industry and 14 years at PVCC, Keenan's impact on students and the broader music community is significant.

Keenan emphasizes practical skills in his teaching approach. "Working together in the Commercial Music Program allows me to channel my passion for Music Industry Studies into inspiring the next generation of students," he stated. He focuses on equipping students with skills that match the evolving entertainment landscape.

Dr. Chris Scinto, Fine and Performing Arts division chair at PVCC, praised Keenan's contribution: "We are incredibly fortunate to have John Keenan as part of PVCC’s Music Industry Studies program." Dr. Scinto highlighted Keenan's technical expertise and real-world experience as enriching elements for student learning.

Keenan has achieved notable success outside academia. He was part of the team behind Kristine W’s track "By My Side," which reached No. 11 on the UK’s Commercial Pop Charts. Additionally, he contributed to an award-winning audio project for Ferrari World Dubai, showcasing his ability to create immersive sound experiences.

His career includes collaborations with major entities like Microsoft and various record labels. As a studio owner and certified Avid Pro Tools instructor based in Phoenix, Keenan has produced numerous successful mixes and remixes, including work for artists such as Pet Shop Boys and Beyoncé.

Currently, Keenan is working on a tribute album for Mary Wilson of The Supremes. His former student Brandon Berg expressed gratitude: “Keenan is a wonderful educator, mentor, and friend.” Berg credits him with inspiring students to excel in their musical pursuits.
