Moms for Liberty has endorsed Susan Winder in her race for a seat on the Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) Governing Board. Early voting is currently underway for the November 5 general election.
Winder's top three priorities should she be elected are prioritizing excellence from educators that will encourage and further student achievement, embracing a traditional curriculum focused on academics and tried-and-true educational methods, and fostering transparent communication between the PVUSD Governing Board, parents, and the community.
According to her campaign website, Winder holds a Bachelor's degree in education from the University of Maryland, an M.Ed. from the Adler-Dreikurs Institute of Human Relations at Bowie State College, and a Ph.D. in K-12 curriculum and instruction from Wayne State University.
From 1988 to 2005, Winder served as principal of an elementary school in Michigan. Additionally, she shares that "as the primary overseer of my grandchildren’s education, I have played a hands-on role in their academic journey. From intensive training in achievement, responsibility, and study skills to supervising online instruction during the challenging times of Covid, I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can thrive."
Per the PVUSD Governing Board's website, the Board comprises five members. Terms are four years and staggered.
Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
