Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is known for its comprehensive writing courses that have helped students pursue successful careers in writing and publishing. Alumni Paris Scobie and Lillie Diaz exemplify this success, having achieved significant accomplishments in their respective fields.

Paris Scobie started at PVCC in 2012, initially studying psychology while nurturing her writing skills. Engaging with the college's student newspaper and learning under Professor Judy Galbraith, she developed her writing alongside addressing personal and mental health challenges. Scobie credited PVCC as the place where she could delve into "community, connection, and self-discovery." Her education allowed her to pursue a path in entrepreneurship and mental health advocacy, launching the podcast Live Well Bipolar and writing a memoir, Crooked Illness.

Similarly, Lillie Diaz attributes her foundational career skills to PVCC, where she pursued English and writing courses influenced by Professor Sarah Yaron. Diaz appreciates the college's flexibility, particularly its online program, which balanced her roles as a student and a parent. After earning her associate degree, she continued her studies at Arizona State University.

PVCC’s English Division, led by faculty like Professor Ryan Stone, aims to provide students with the skills and confidence to express their stories. The Creative Writing program, established by Lois Roma-Deeley, offers diverse genres and opportunities to learn from renowned writers. Through courses and engagement in the literary community, PVCC supports writers in refining their craft and joining the publishing world.

Whether interested in analytical writing or creative expression, PVCC offers programs designed to guide aspiring writers in developing their potential. The college remains committed to helping students achieve their educational and professional goals in writing.
