After an impressive stint in the UFL, Chris Garrett has earned another opportunity in the NFL.

The Arizona Cardinals signed the outside linebacker on Tuesday ahead of their preseason finale against the Denver Broncos. The team also signed defensive tackle T.J. Carter.

To make room on the roster, long snapper Joe Shimko was released.

Garrett, named the 2024 UFL Special Teams Player of the Year, worked out for the Cardinals on Monday. In 2021, the Rams drafted Garrett in the seventh round out of Concordia-St. Paul, a Division II school in Minnesota. Garrett appeared in one regular season game during the Rams' Super Bowl-winning season.

Garrett now joins cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting and long snapper Aaron Brewer as the only Cardinals with a Super Bowl victory on their resume.

Considering how frequently the Cardinals rotate their players on defense, Garrett and Carter should have an opportunity to potentially see some playing time.

Carter has some familiarity with the Cardinals organization. After going undrafted in 2020, he was signed by the team as an undrafted free agent but did not make the roster that season. Since then, Carter has bounced around different practice squads and XFL and UFL rosters.

He made his NFL debut for the Rams in 2022.
