The Phoenix Mercury has announced the signing of veteran forward Monique Billings to a seven-day contract.
Billings, standing at 6-foot-4, appeared in 24 games this season with the Dallas Wings under a hardship contract. She started in 12 of those games and averaged a career-high 8.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 25.4 minutes per game. Notably, Billings recorded five double-doubles this season and is among five players in the league to achieve at least 15 points and 15 rebounds in a single game while shooting 60% or higher from the field. The other players are Aliyah Boston, Tina Charles, Angel Reese, and A’ja Wilson.
Originally selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream, Billings played six seasons (2018-2023) with Atlanta. During her tenure there, she averaged 5.9 points and 5.8 rebounds over 176 regular season games, starting in 44 of them.
