The Phoenix Mercury has officially inaugurated their new practice facility in downtown Phoenix, a 58,000-square-foot complex valued at $100 million. The facility is equipped with world-class amenities and represents a significant investment from team owner Mat Ishbia. Among its features are two full-sized basketball courts dedicated to Diana Taurasi, complete with a unique Taurasi-inspired logo.

“Phoenix is the best basketball city in the world and continues to elevate the standard in women’s professional sports,” said Ishbia. “We are committed to investing in our players and providing the best facilities and resources they need to be successful, and we hope our state-of-the-art facility encourages more investment across the league. This practice facility is about hard work, passion, and greatness, all attributes that Diana Taurasi exemplifies, and we are honored to name our basketball courts after the greatest women’s basketball player of all time.”

The facility offers 24/7 access for players and staff and includes two indoor practice courts with 10 baskets each, as well as built-in courtside technologies for real-time performance analytics. Additional features include strength and cardio training areas, indoor and outdoor turf training zones, a functional movement area, and a team meeting room with theater-style seating.

Player recovery amenities are also a key aspect of the facility. It houses a physician room and testing area, recovery room, hydrotherapy room with hot and cold plunge pools, freestanding underwater treadmill, two massage rooms, locker room with vanity stations, sauna, steam room, wellness room, player lounge with full kitchen and private chef services.

“This practice facility sets the standard for what it means to invest in women’s sports,” stated Josh Bartelstein, Chief Executive Officer of the Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns. “From performance to recovery to team culture, we are providing our players with the space and amenities they need to be and feel their best.”

The Diana Taurasi basketball courts honor the three-time WNBA champion who is also a six-time Olympian, an 11-time WNBA All-Star, and the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer.

Part of the Player 15 Group team member campus which opened in April as the business headquarters for multiple local sports teams including the Phoenix Suns and Valley Suns arena operations; this practice facility was designed by Gensler along with von Staden Architects while construction was managed by Okland Construction. Transwestern’s Sports & Entertainment Advisory Group facilitated the real estate transaction as well as assisted in design and construction processes.
