Five-time Olympic gold medalist Diana Taurasi, two-time Olympic gold medalist Brittney Griner, and Kahleah Copper, who will make her Olympic debut, have been named to the USA Basketball Women’s National Team for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The announcement was made by USA Basketball today.

The Olympic Games Paris 2024 are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

Taurasi will make a record sixth appearance in Paris and aims to become the first player in Olympic basketball history to win six gold medals. She currently holds five gold medals and has played more games (38) than any other women’s player in USA Basketball Olympic history. Taurasi is second in points scored (414), trailing only Lisa Leslie (488).

Griner, who won gold in Tokyo (2020) and Rio de Janeiro (2016), is one of three active players on Team USA with multiple Olympic gold medals alongside Taurasi and Breanna Stewart. During the 2020 Olympics, Griner started all six games, averaging a team-best 16.5 points per game and scoring 30 points in the gold medal game against Japan.

Copper will be making her first Olympics appearance after winning a gold medal at the 2022 FIBA World Cup and participating in the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. A three-time All-Star and WNBA Champion, Copper is having a standout season with the Mercury, averaging 24.0 points per game.

The USA Women’s National Team seeks their eighth consecutive and tenth overall Olympic gold medal in Paris. This marks the second consecutive Summer Games featuring three players from the Mercury on Team USA. Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and forward Kevin Durant will also be part of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team.

The team will hold a training camp in Phoenix before competing against the WNBA All-Stars on July 20.
