The Salt River Project (SRP) has announced Jim Pratt as its new General Manager and Chief Executive Officer.

“I am humbled and honored to be selected to lead SRP,” said Pratt in a press release. “It is a role steeped in history and has helped make a significant impact on our state and the communities we serve. I look forward to working with the incredible SRP team members to build upon the company’s strong foundation of dedicated service as we evolve to meet our community’s future needs.”

The Salt River Project (SRP) is a public power utility that serves the Phoenix metropolitan area in Arizona, USA. It was established in 1903 and is one of the largest public power utilities in the country. The SRP provides electricity and water to more than 2 million customers in central Arizona.

Pratt has more than 38 years of experience in the utility industry, having worked in a variety of engineering and management positions relating to the generation, transmission, distribution, grid modernization, water, and customer service segments of SRP’s business.

He will replace Mike Hummel, who will retire on May 5 after more than 40 years with the utility.

“Jim Pratt is the right person to lead SRP at this pivotal time in our industry,” said SRP’s President David Rousseau. “He is a skilled leader who inspires others, encourages innovation and will work tirelessly to support customers.”

The Salt River Project operates and maintains a complex system of dams, canals, power plants, and transmission lines that generate and distribute electricity to homes and businesses in the region. It also manages a system of reservoirs and water delivery canals that provide water for irrigation, municipal, and industrial uses.
