Scottsdale, AZ-based health and wellness entrepreneur Matt Roeske is touting the health benefits of Tremella mushroom, a type of edible fungus that grows on trees and logs in temperate and tropical regions.

“Tremella is one of the most promising medicinal mushrooms for brain support, skin health, and vitamin D. Tremella helps assist in the protection of the connective tissue in your skin, called fibroblasts,” said Roeske. “With the help of tremella, your skin is able to retain more moisture, making your skin dewy and smooth."

Roeske is co-founder of Cultivate Elevate, a company that provides superfoods such as mushrooms powders, Shilajit and pearl powder.

Tremella mushrooms, also known as "snow fungus" or "silver ear fungus," are a type of edible fungus that grows on trees and logs in temperate and tropical regions. They have a gelatinous texture and are often used in Chinese cuisine to add texture and thickness to soups, stews, and desserts.

According to Cultivate Elevate, Tremella “also contains amino acids, which are crucial for the production of collagen, high levels of vitamin D, and may improve the levels of hyaluronic acid in the body, which can help moisturize and improve the texture of skin.”

According to a 2017 study in Molecular Medicine Reports, Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharide, (TFPS), the extract from Tremella mushrooms, has “demonstrated to exhibit potent anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects” and “may act as a potential therapeutic agent for oxidative-stress-associated skin diseases and aging.”

This 2020 review of research in the Amazonian Journal of Plant Research found that, “tremella mushroom benefits” include, “anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, lower cholesterol” and that the mushrooms might help “combat obesity, protect nerves and may fight cancer.”

According to Cultivate Elevate's website, the company’s “superfoods are cultivated in small batches and lab tested for purity. Heavy metals are known to cause a plethora of issues such as brain fog, chronic fatigue and cellular damage. This is why we are adamant about organic and pure foods.”
