The Phoenix Police Department (PPD) is searching for a suspect who shot a police officer outside of a gas station in April, according to AZ Family

A $10,000 reward was offered by the Phoenix Police Department and Silent Witness for information regarding Nicholas Cody Cowan. The gunman is suspected of shooting a female officer at a gas station in north Phoenix following a domestic violence call.

"The ATF has now matched @SilentwitnessAZ reward of up to $5,000 for a combined total of $10,000 for the arrest of Nicholas Cowan," Phoenix police said on Twitter.

Cowan was described as a 35-year-old white man standing 6 feet tall and weighing 215 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair. Cowan was last seen wearing a black hat, black T-shirt, and black shorts. He is considered armed and dangerous and witnesses were told not to approach if they spotted him, according to AZ Family.

"[He] has tattoos on neck, arms, chest, and back. Armed and dangerous. If sighted call 911," Phoenix police said in a Twitter post with an accompanying photo of Cowan.

The officer involved in the shooting was rushed to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, where she underwent surgery to have a bullet removed, AZ Family reported. The surgery was successful and the officer is in stable condition. She has worked with the PPD for 24 years and her spouse is also a Phoenix police officer.

"OFFICER UPDATE: The officer that was shot this morning is in stable condition after having surgery to remove the bullet. We are extremely grateful for the amazing medical staff at HonorHealth Deer Valley," Phoenix police said on Twitter

Witnesses with information can call 911 or 480-WITNESS, AZ Family said.
