Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) said he fears the outcome of Big Tech’s censorship.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., has condemned recent Big Tech acts such as de-platforming, saying he fears they are promoting single-party systems.
“First of all, I condemn the [Capitol] violence,” Biggs said on Outnumbered Overtime. “That was outrageous, and it was horrible, frankly. I have every confidence that those individuals are going to be apprehended and prosecuted. But [Sen. Chuck Schumer] is asking for a declaration that they are domestic terrorists. He wants it done immediately to prevent them from getting on airplanes. I'm not sure that's the wisest thing.”
Biggs said the authorities need to get after domestic terrorists and prosecute them as appropriate, but the cancel culture is not working.
“If you really want to bring unity and cool down the simmering embers that are burning right now, you don't pour more gas on the fire,” he said. “That's what I think these people are trying to do…”
Briggs argued that censorship limits democratic discussion therefore it is meant to suppress information.
Many conservatives have openly spoken of their disapproval of social media censorship and ban rules. This comes after President Donald Trump has been banned from Facebook, Parler and Twitter following posts that incited the Jan. 6 riot.
