PVSchools is gearing up for the state's standardized testing, with several assessments scheduled for the upcoming weeks. These tests are designed to evaluate student achievement in various subjects, including reading, math, writing, and science, and will contribute to the school's performance metrics.

On April 2, 11th-grade students across PVSchools will take the Arizona-required ACT test. This test is integral to the statewide assessment process. "ACT data provides information that improves how students are taught, how teachers are coached, and how high school students can be better supported and prepared for graduation and post-secondary opportunities," according to the release. Furthermore, ACT scores play a role in the school's accountability formula, impacting the school's letter grade.

Similarly, on April 2, 9th graders will undertake the ACT Aspire test, with scores set to serve as a comparison when these students reach their junior year. For 10th and 12th-grade students, April 2 will be a learning-from-home day. "Each student will be provided with a schedule for the day and videos to give tips on how to tackle the ACT," the release states. Students will engage in activities through the platform Naviance to help them prepare for future educational and career paths.

PVSchools students in grades 3 through 8 will participate in the Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA), which evaluates student progress and offers objective measures to improve teaching strategies. Meanwhile, students in grades 5, 8, and 11 are scheduled to take the AzSCI, a state science test.

The testing windows for these assessments vary, with AASA testing occurring between March 31 and April 25, while AzSCI is planned from March 17 to April 11. "All public schools are required to administer state-standardized assessments to fulfill the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act," notes the press release.

For detailed testing schedules, PVSchools will communicate site-specific dates, and further information on Arizona state testing is available on the ADE website.
