Senator Ruben Gallego, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Arizona’s 3rd district, recently took to social media to discuss Medicaid and healthcare issues in Arizona. His series of tweets highlighted the importance of Medicaid for rural Arizonans and announced upcoming town hall meetings.
On March 17, 2025, Senator Gallego expressed gratitude to his constituents in Phoenix who attended the "Save Medicaid Town Hall." He emphasized that he and Senator Mark Kelly are committed to their cause, stating "Arizona, we hear you. Thank you for joining us in Phoenix for our first Save Medicaid Town Hall—@SenMarkKelly and I aren’t backing down."
In a follow-up tweet on March 18, 2025, Gallego underscored the reliance of rural Arizonans on Medicaid. He warned about the potential consequences of cutting Medicaid funding by saying "30% of rural Arizonans rely on Medicaid. Cut it, and rural hospitals shut down—leaving many with costly helicopter rides as their only choice to get to emergency care. It's not safe, it's not smart, and we won’t let it happen."
Later that day, he encouraged constituents to participate in another town hall meeting scheduled in Douglas by sharing a sign-up link: "Sign up for our Douglas town hall here: https://t.co/9bM2xSLfe8"
