Cardinals General Manager Monti Ossenfort, who was part of the New England Patriots' front office when Jacoby Brissett was drafted in 2016, is reportedly reuniting with the quarterback. Brissett, now 32 years old, is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent.

Brissett has connections with key figures in the Cardinals organization. Jonathan Gannon, currently on the Cardinals' coaching staff, worked with Brissett during his time with the Indianapolis Colts. Additionally, Drew Petzing served as the Browns' quarterback coach when Brissett made 11 starts for Cleveland in 2022.

Speculation about Brissett joining the Cardinals began when Gannon and Petzing arrived in 2023. Israel Woolfork, the current Cardinals QB coach, also worked on the Browns' offensive staff during that period.

Last season, Brissett started five games for New England as a placeholder for Drake Maye. He is anticipated to serve as backup to Kyler Murray for Arizona. However, incumbent Clayton Tune will compete to maintain his position after outperforming Desmond Ridder last year.

Throughout his career, Brissett has started 53 out of 87 games and recorded 53 touchdowns and 24 interceptions with a passer rating of 84.3.

Brissett's signing would mark the third reported agreement for Arizona with free agents from other teams this offseason. The team has also reached agreements with linebackers Josh Sweat and Akeem Davis-Gaither. Official signings cannot occur until Wednesday at 1 p.m.
