The University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies has published a new white paper titled "Good Leader, Bad Decisions," authored by Lorraine Priest, Ph.D. Priest is affiliated with the University's Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR). The document delves into how leaders and organizations can benefit from understanding the brain's response during crises to improve decision-making processes.

Priest emphasizes the importance of this understanding: “Gaining an understanding of how good leaders make unwise decisions in crisis situations may assist others in being prepared in the decision-making process when facing a crisis.” She further explains that "leadership effectiveness starts with understanding and empowering people in crisis situations to make decisions while maintaining good managerial and business practices."

The paper covers various aspects such as the neuroscience behind experiencing crises, historical events influenced by leadership decisions during crises, and the significance of preparedness.

In her role at CEITR, Priest also serves as faculty in the College of Doctoral Studies. She acts as a research methodologist and doctoral chair, assisting students through their dissertation process. Additionally, she contributes to the university's Dissertation to Publication workshop, aiding recent graduates in publishing their dissertation findings in academic journals. Priest holds a doctorate from Walden University in Applied Management and Decision Science and completed her MBA at the University of Phoenix. Her tenure at the University began in 1992.

The complete white paper can be accessed on the College’s Research Hub or via a direct link provided.
