Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) will host a Wellness Art Walk on February 26 to honor David Bradley, a ceramics instructor who is retiring after 25 years of service. The event offers participants the chance to explore art installations across the campus and celebrate Bradley's contributions.
Dr. Jana Schwartz, PVCC President, remarked on Bradley's influence: “When visitors come to campus, almost always one of the things people mention first is the way art is incorporated throughout the campus. In so many ways, this is the touch of Dr. David Bradley.” She added, “It is hard to overstate the impact that Dr. Bradley has had on so many students, staff, and faculty alike over the years and it is a joy to celebrate the story of his impact.”
The art walk begins at 10 a.m., starting from the B Building ceramics studio. It will feature 11 permanent pieces including The Seven Values and Water is Life. Each stop will provide insights into each project and its significance.
Bradley joined PVCC in January 2000 and played an integral role in developing its ceramics program and overseeing large-scale art projects on campus. Reflecting on his career, he said: “I am really proud to have helped grow the ceramics program here on campus as well as being a part of the collection of art that has helped to beautify the campus and create a unique and special place.”
Tatum Bailey from Health and Exercise Science noted: "David's work has always been a source of inspiration...His art brings people together, sparks creativity, and enhances the spaces we share."
Though retiring, Bradley intends to remain involved with PVCC through volunteer work while also enjoying time in his home studio.
For those interested in exploring more of PVCC’s public art collection or viewing some of Dr. Bradley’s works firsthand, visiting PVCC Campus Public Art is encouraged.
