Michael Bidwill inducted into Arizona Sports Hall of Fame

Michael Bidwill, owner of the Arizona Cardinals, has been elected to the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. His involvement in the NFL and his contributions to sports in Arizona have earned him this recognition. "I love getting a chance to understand all the business," Bidwill stated about his role in shaping the future of the NFL.

Bidwill took charge of building a new stadium for the Cardinals at his father Bill's request and has led the franchise since 2019 after his father's passing. His election into the Hall of Fame is not unexpected given his significant impact on both the team and community.

The Arizona Sports Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made "exceptional contributions to sports in Arizona." Bidwill is now among those recognized, joining previous inductees from the Cardinals such as Bill Bidwill, Larry Fitzgerald, Pat Tillman, Adrian Wilson, and Jake Plummer.

This year's class includes notable figures like U.S. soccer star Julie Ertz, MLB all-star Paul Konerko, basketball star Mike Bibby, college football Hall of Famer Ricky Hunley, former Diamondbacks GM Joe Garagiola Jr., Olympic swimmer Melissa Belote Ripley, and Matt Shott from amateur hockey development with the Coyotes.

Before leading his family's organization in 1996, Michael Bidwill worked as a federal prosecutor. He played a pivotal role in constructing State Farm Stadium, which significantly boosted local economic impact by approximately $6 billion through hosting events like Super Bowls and NCAA tournaments.

Apart from his NFL commitments—including roles on several committees—Bidwill has contributed to Phoenix's business community as chairman of Greater Phoenix Leadership and Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

The induction ceremony for Michael Bidwill and other Class of 2024/25 members will take place on April 10 at Chateau Luxe in Phoenix.
