Grand Canyon University senior Cam Wilmington has been recognized as the Western Athletic Conference's Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Wilmington achieved this honor following his performance in the 60-meter hurdles during the first meet of 2025.

Wilmington clocked a time of 7.94 seconds in the event, held at Flagstaff, Arizona. This time is tied for 31st nationally and secured him second place at the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open. It also ranks as one of the top times within the conference. His performance was just slightly faster than his previous personal best of 7.95 seconds, which he set at the 2021 Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships.

This meet marked only Wilmington's second appearance competing for Grand Canyon University, having transferred from Kansas. Originally from Missouri City, Texas, Wilmington also participated in the 300-meter run at the same meet, finishing fourth with a time of 33.88 seconds.

The Grand Canyon University team will return to Flagstaff on Friday to compete in the Lumberjack Team Challenge.
