When Chad Ryland successfully kicked a 58-yard field goal in Carolina to tie the game at the last moment, he appeared to do so with ease. Reflecting on his performance, Ryland stated, "I felt in that situation I had 63 (yards) without having to overswing," adding that adrenaline can often provide an extra yard or two.

Ryland discussed the importance of knowing one's kicking distance and how testing oneself has been a long-standing practice among kickers. "That's always one of the fun things of the offseason, back it up and see who can swing," he explained.

The Arizona Cardinals have found promise in Ryland after losing Matt Prater to injury earlier this season. Prater's return from injured reserve seems unlikely soon due to roster constraints. Ryland is under contract through 2025, while Prater will become a free agent post-season.

Despite Prater's strong start before his injury, Ryland has proven effective by making 25 out of 29 field goals and all 21 extra points. Special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers commented on Ryland's past misses: "The kicks didn't go through in a couple of games, they have gone through a lot in other games."

Running back James Conner remains questionable for upcoming games but appears physically ready despite wearing a sleeve on his injured knee. Running backs coach Autry Denson emphasized players' commitment: "We sign up to play... if we're playing and they're keeping score, we're playing."

Quarterback Kyler Murray also showcased his running skills recently against Carolina, rushing for significant yards and contributing to the team's offense. Wide receivers coach Drew Terrell praised rookie Marvin Harrison Jr., emphasizing the importance of dictating routes against defenses.

Harrison acknowledged challenges during his rookie year: "I'm not gonna lie and say it's been easy." Meanwhile, Trey McBride is approaching milestones both for receptions without touchdowns and total receiving yards.

Defensively, Coach Jonathan Gannon stressed takeaways as crucial but noted their unpredictability: "Sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't." The Cardinals defense struggled against Carolina's run game last week but aims for improvement moving forward.

Injuries continue affecting player availability; cornerback Elijah Jones will remain on IR after setbacks with his ankle injury.

Safety Budda Baker addressed defensive shortcomings against Carolina: "We understood what was at hand... Just execute."

The Cardinals prepare for their next challenge Saturday night in Los Angeles.
