DeeJay Dallas, known for setting an NFL record with a dynamic kickoff return earlier this season, is now being called upon to contribute as a running back for the Arizona Cardinals. With the team focusing on a run-first strategy, Dallas sees this as an opportunity to demonstrate his skills. "It's not foreign for me to play offense, but I'm getting the opportunity to show what I can do and how hard I work," he said.

The Cardinals have maintained strong performance in their running game throughout the season, averaging over five yards per attempt and nearing 2,000 rushing yards with three games left. James Conner has been pivotal in this success and is approaching a 1,000-yard season. However, with rookie Trey Benson questionable due to an ankle injury and Emari Demercado on Injured Reserve with a back issue, depth concerns have arisen.

Despite these challenges, offensive coordinator Drew Petzing remains confident. "That's the nature of this business," he commented. The upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers presents an opportunity for Conner to further solidify his standing. The Panthers' defense has struggled against the run this season.

Conner needs just 27 yards to reach 1,000 for the season and 68 yards to surpass his career-best from 2023. Achieving these milestones would place him alongside Ottis Anderson and Edgerrin James as one of only three Cardinals players with multiple 1,000-yard seasons.

Quarterback Kyler Murray praised Conner's versatility and resilience: "James is a horse... He carries us in the run game." Despite accumulating impressive statistics, Conner remains focused on his performance rather than personal achievements. "I've just got my head down," he said.

With Benson potentially sidelined on Sunday, veteran Michael Carter might be elevated from the practice squad to fill in. Meanwhile, Dallas increased his offensive involvement significantly in recent games and could play a key role if needed.

"We learn our opponent inside and out," Dallas noted about their preparation against Carolina's defense. The team's execution will be crucial in overcoming any defensive challenges they face.
