The Arizona Cardinals have finalized a three-year contract extension with safety Budda Baker, keeping him with the team through the 2027 season. This development follows recent contract extensions for running back James Conner and starting center Hjalte Froholdt as the Cardinals focus on their long-term strategy.

Baker, who was drafted by the Cardinals in 2017 as a second-round pick, had been hopeful about remaining in Arizona. He previously received a contract extension from the team in 2020, with adjustments made before the 2023 season. ESPN has reported that Baker's new deal includes $30 million guaranteed and could reach up to $54 million. Prior to this agreement, he was set to become a free agent after the current season.

A consistent leader on the field, Baker has served as a team captain for five consecutive seasons. His accolades include being named first-team All-Pro as both a special teamer in 2017 and a safety in 2020, along with second-team honors in 2021. Currently, Baker ranks second in the NFL with 142 tackles this season and is close to setting a personal record.

During training camp earlier this year, Baker expressed his desire to continue his career with the Cardinals. "I've been drafted here," he stated. "I know it wasn't the same coach or the same (GM), but it's the same owner. And I was drafted here, been here six years, going on seven, it's been awesome for me. I love Arizona, I love Arizona fans."
