Grand Canyon University has announced its 2025 indoor track and field schedule, which includes nine regular-season meets and marks the program's final participation in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Indoor Championships.
Under the leadership of 15th-year head coach Tom Flood, GCU is set to defend its women's conference championship while aiming to reclaim the men's title. "This schedule and competition should have us prepared to defend our WAC indoor title on the women's side and regain the men's title and also send a lot of athletes to the NCAA indoor championships," Flood stated.
The upcoming season will be GCU's last opportunity to compete for WAC indoor titles. Over their 11 years in the conference, GCU's men's team has won seven titles, while the women's team has claimed six. Overall, they have secured 13 out of 22 possible indoor championships since joining.
The 2025 schedule includes visits exclusively to three locations: Spokane, Washington; Flagstaff, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico. "Again we are really excited about our indoor schedule," Flood remarked. "We will be competing at some of the finest indoor facilities in the country against some of the best track and field programs in the country."
The season is set to commence in December 2024 at The Podium in Spokane, Washington, culminating with the WAC Indoor Championships at the same venue starting in late February. The Lopes will compete four times in Flagstaff, three times in Albuquerque, and three times in Spokane.
GCU aims to qualify athletes for participation in the NCAA Indoor Championships scheduled for mid-March in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
